Özyeğin University and Esenyurt Municipality Sign a Memorandum of Understanding for Esenyurt Children’s University

Özyeğin University and Esenyurt Municipality signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop and offer training programs at the forthcoming Children’s University in Esenyurt. The signing ceremony, hosted by our Rector Prof. Esra Gençtürk, was held on February 28, 2024 at our university. Among the attendees were Esenyurt Mayor Kemal Deniz Bozkurt, as well as Prof. Canan Sümer, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Assistant Prof. Alper Açık, Head of the Psychology Department, and Associate Prof. Faik Gür from the Department of International Relations. Also present were Deputy Mayors Günnur Orhun and Belgin Oflazoğlu Orkunoğlu, along with Hüseyin Yaşar, Acting Director of Cultural Affairs from Esenyurt Municipality.

The two-year Memorandum of Understanding is intended to offer educational as well as personal development programs exclusively tailored for distinguished children with disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. The designed programs include business ethics, social etiquette, basic interpersonal communication, anger management, body language, elocution, and basic entrepreneurship. The collaboration aims to elevate the quality of education for children, and develop new training programs that foster child development with the ultimate goal of contributing to children’s social, cognitive, cultural, and academic development.

Within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding, Özyeğin University will develop educational and assessment materials and share them with Esenyurt Municipality officials. Our University will also host a broad range of seminars, training sessions, and workshops on its campus to contribute to the professional development of municipal employees, in particular psychologists and social workers.
