The Brazilian election and its aftermath: A discussion with Dr. Lucio R. Rennó

The Department of International Relations cordially invites you to a discussion of the 2022 Brazilian elections with Dr. Lucio R. Renno.

In this presentation, Dr. Renno will explore the dynamics and defining traits of the Brazilian 2022 presidential election focusing on the consolidation of a national-level conservative political alignment based on issue positions labeled Bolsonarismo.

The event will take place online via Zoom on the 4th of November between 14:30-15:45.

Assoc. Prof. Lucio R. Renno

Lucio R. Renno is Associate Professor in the Political Science Institute of the University of Brasilia (2006-present). He is currently Dean of Graduate Studies (2021-present) and was the Director of the Political Science Institute (2020). He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh (2004). Between 2015 and 2018, Prof. Renno was the President of the Federal District Planning Company (Codeplan). Prof. Renno was Assistant Professor in the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Arizona (2005-2006) and a post-doctoral fellow at the State Univeristy of New York - Stony Brook (2004-2005) and at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies, Hamburg, Germany (2009-2010; 2011; 2013). He has been a visiting professor at distinguished universities in Germany, USA, Britain, Japan and Australia over the years.

He publishes on legislative politics, voting behavior, and public opinion.
