Startup Weekend Istanbul
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour entrepreneurship competition where participants transform a bright business idea into a start-up company by working in teams. Organized in 82 cities in 19 countries so far, the Startup Weekend will be held for the second time at Microsoft’s Istanbul office in Turkey with the main sponsorships of Özyeğin University and Microsoft and with the support of Turkcell and Etohum between 27-29 April.
What’s in for competitors?
The event starts on Friday evening and continues non-stop till Sunday evening. On Friday evening, participants vote the top 10-15 ideas pitched among 40-45 ideas selected from applications. Once the ideas are selected, the participants decide what they want to tackle and with whom they want to work over the weekend and form their own teams. Teams created develop the selected ideas to launch a start up company till Sunday evening. On Sunday evening, the jury composed of successful entrepreneurships selects the top three teams following the presentations.
During the Startup Weekend to be held at Microsoft’s İstanbul office, mentors and guest speakers chosen among successful entrepreneurs to support the teams will be sharing their own experiences with the participants. Also, to help competitors shake off the stress and tension of the competition, a variety of surprise events will be coming up.
