Özgün Ekici earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011. He also holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University (2003), an M.A. in Economics and Management Science from Humboldt University (2005), and an M.Sc. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University (2007).
Dr. Ekici's research primarily focuses on Matching Theory, Mechanism Design, and Market Design. He specializes in developing matching algorithms with broad applications, such as the allocation of kidneys to patients with renal disease and the allocation of quotas in public schools to students. His innovative work has been published in several prestigious journals, including Theoretical Economics, Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Mathematical Economics, International Journal of Game Theory, and Economics Letters. His contributions continue to advance the field of economics and its practical applications in real-world scenarios.
