Özyeğin University Faculty of Architecture and Design Wins First Prize in International Project Competition

The design project led by Associate Prof. Güliz Özorhon and Assistant Prof. İlker Fatih Özorhon from our Faculty of Architecture and Design, and developed jointly with Research Assistant Gülbin Lekesiz and Architect Kerem Meral has been awarded the first prize in an international project competition held in Montenegro. Organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism for the conceptual architectural design of the Emergency Centre within the Complex of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro, the competition received 20 international submissions, which underwent rigorous assessment by a distinguished panel of seven juries.

In their report, the competition jury remarked the following for the winning project: "The project shows an excellent morphological interpretation of the context, proposing a solution in continuity with the existing CCM building, along with its circular tracing. In this way it clearly defines the open space of the entrance to the hospital structure, giving it an urban dignity in relation to Ljubljanska Street The clarity of the structural layout allows all the rooms and distribution spaces to be defined according to a rational geometry, while also providing flexibility for possible adaptations.”
