Air Transportation Seminars : Safety Management System in Airport Operations

The School of Aviation at Özyeğin University continues with its Air Transportation Seminar Series in the Academic Year 2015-2016.  The first seminar of this semester was held on November 11th, 2025 on Safety Management System in Airport Operations. Mr. A. Harun Öztoprak, Quality and Safety Management System Manager at TAV Istanbul joined the seminar as our guest speaker to share his knowledge and experience with our students. During the seminar, Mr. Öztoprak provided general insights about the Safety Management System, and discussed the importance of hazard reporting and risk management, human factors, the concept of fair culture and SMS Practices for terminal operators.

*Who is A. Harun Öztoprak?
Harun Öztoprak was born in 1972 in Istanbul. He graduated from Department of Geophysical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. Mr. Öztoprak began his aviation career at the Terminal Operation Center of TAV Istanbul in 1999. He worked as Internal Quality Auditor in 2005. Then, he served as Technical Shift Supervisor and Terminal Operation Chief at TAV Airports. In 2013, Mr. Öztoprak took part in the  establishment of the safety management system. In addition to his responsibilities in national and international projects of TAV Holding (in Medina, Zagreb, Gazipaşa), he has also been serving as Quality and Safety Management System Manager since 2013.
