Covid-19 and Drug Patents

As you know, one of the hottest and crucial topics pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic is vaccine and drugs for treatment. Currently, several drugs are being tested as potential antidotes to Covid-19. However, some of these drugs are protected by patents in many countries. What happens if these drugs turn out to be effective? How will the process work? What is licensing? What is patent scope? What do effective international conventions and laws stipulate for this type of situations?

At this webinar, we will address questions like these with Dr. Lecturer Özlem Armağan from the Faculty of Law. We will embark on a journey into and discover the unknowns of the highly magical yet also complicated world of drug patents with our esteemed faculty member who is renowned for her work on patent law and drug patents and her extensive experience as an “amicus curiae”.
