White Belt Maker Training for Ages 10-15

Important Information

• 3 hours a day - 2 days in total
• Ages: 10 to 15
• Address: Özyeğin University, Innovation Center
• All of the required equipment will be provided by Openfab Istanbul.
• Participants must bring a laptop and a mouse with them.
• The participation fee is 324 TL. (VAT Inclusive)
• OzU and FIBA Group members are offered 20% discount.
• The daily training sessions may last longer depending on the participants.

What am I going to do during the training?

• You will develop, edit, and publish your own webpage.
• You will design an object using 2-D modelling.
• You will produce your own design using a laser cutter.
• You will combine your object with some basic electrical circuit knowledge to create interactive accessories.

What will I be capable of after the training?

At the end of the training, the participants will have an understanding of the global digital transformation, and will have a team working experience in project groups. The participants will also be introduced to the concepts of personalized production, maker movement, and DIY as well as the concepts of the new industrial revolution.

The participants who successfully complete the training program will be able to develop production-based solutions to the physical problems they may face in the real world with the new approach they will gain during the training.

Training Purpose/Objective

This is an activity based program, not a theoretical one. You will complete a project by the end of each session. Theoretical knowledge will be relayed to the participants through a series of activities. We aim to demonstrate that technology is for everyone and that everyone can produce at our new Openfab Istanbul, which we founded with the goal of preparing a productive generation.

Training Calendar

Applied Entrepreneurship and Coding

July  17, 2017 - Monday 

The participants will learn the basics of HTLM/CSS and build their own website. At the end of each session, the participants will publish the projects they have completed in their website.

2D/3D Modelling, Electrical, Laser Cutting

July 18, 2017 - Tuesday

The participants will learn the basics of 2D/3D modelling, and design an object which they will later produce using a laser cutter. The participants will then implant electrical circuits on the objects they produced using a laser cutter. The participants will thus create interactive objects.

Before coming to the class:

• The participants should publish the projects they completed in the previous session in their websites,
