Psychological Development Unit - Sharing Group Session After Fire Disasters in Turkey
Dear students,
Regarding the fire disasters in Turkey, our rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk made an announcement on MyÖzÜ on 31 July 2021. In this context as the Psychological Development Unit team we are following the loss of agricultural and forest lands, as well as the loss of life and property, due to the fires that started and continued in different regions of our country in the past days with deep sadness and mourning.
Although you are not directly exposed to these disasters, even hearing about the developments can affect you emotionally and physically. It is very important to remind yourself that all the emotions you experience after the difficult events are natural and real and are a part of the process. As time passes, we expect the intensity of our emotions such as anger, despair, sadness, fear, and anxiety to decrease, but it is very valuable to let yourself to experience your emotions in this process.
While we wish these disasters to end as soon as possible, we would like to remind that we are ready to provide psychological support to our students affected by the situation. Our students, who are in disaster areas or in need of psychological support regarding the experiences, can always reach us at counseling@ozyegin.edu.tr.
We invite you to our sharing group, which will take place on Friday, 06.08.2021 between 16:00 and 17:00 in order to name what we feel and share our experiences in a safe area with a common language. You can register to our group via https://ozyegin-edu-tr.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYpd-yvqj4tEtwKA7RZKURfGX38Ka13lgVq link with your OzU e-mails. The group will be in Turkish. If you need to join an English sharing group, please write to us at counseling@ozyegin.edu.tr.
We hope everything gets better soon,
Psychological Development Unit
