"Minority" as a Total Social Fact: Law, Politics, History and Sociology

Department of International Relations at Özyeğin University invites you to the online event titled '"Minority" as a Total Social Fact: Law, Politics, History and Sociology.' Prof. Dr. Samim Akgönül from University of Strasbourg will join us as the speaker. The event will take place online via Zoom on the 7th of January 2022 between 11:00 and 12:30.

Abstract

Minority is not a sui generis concept. It's a constructed, social, legal and political status that is always the fruit of a historical process and always in interaction with the status of majority. During this conference, Prof. Dr. Akgönül will be analyzing the mutli-mayered meaning of the "minority" concept in several scientific disciplines by using concrete examples from different contexts of the world.
