Prof. Dr. Metin Kozak graduated from Çukurova University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, School of Tourism and Hotel Management in 1991. He received his master's degree from Dokuz Eylül University. He completed his PhD at Sheffield Hallam University. He started his academic career as a lecturer at Muğla University in 1992 and became a professor in 2012. In 2008 and 2009, he received the best work award with the papers presented at the congresses held in the USA and Austria, respectively, and the TYD Tourism Researcher of the Year award in 2003. He has given lectures in many countries as a visiting professor. He served as the Dean of Dokuz Eylül University between 2016-2020. His academic interests are upon quality management, benchmarking, destination management and marketing, consumer behavior, competitiveness, branding, quantitative research methods and performance measurement. His more than 150 articles have been published in national and international journals. In addition, he worked as the editor and referee for many journals. He started the "Advances in Tourism Marketing Conference" series in 2005 and also pioneered the organization of some other well-established international conferences such as IAST, CPTHL, TRC and AIEST in Turkey. He undertook various duties in many tourism organizations such as the President of the International Academy of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Studies. Currently, he is the Dean of Kadir Has University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Advertising. Prof. Dr. Metin Kozak is going to make a presentation titled “Two Sides of the Coin: Benefits and Pains in Tourism” in the Seminar course.
