World Food Day Panel - Understanding Global Developments through the Trail of Water

Our university will play host to a significant event in observance of World Food Day. The panel “Understanding Global Developments Through Water Footprint” will take place at our OzU X building on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 10:30 through 12:30 with distinguished executives, experts, and academicians from Özyeğin University, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the Turkish Water Institute (SUEN) in attendance. The opening remarks will be delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk, Viorel Gutu, FAO Representative for Türkiye and Sub-regional Coordinator for Central Asia, and Prof. Dr. Lütfi Akca, SUEN President. The panel will be moderated by Özyeğin University faculty member Prof. Dr. Deniz Şenol Sert. Distinguished speakers include Dr. Aysegül Selışık, Assistant FAO Representative for Türkiye, Dr. Tuğba Evrim Maden, Policy Development Coordinator at SUEN, Begüm Yontar Avcı, Board Member at SUDER, and Assistant Prof. Mine Tekman from Özyeğin University. The panel marks an important milestone in the collaboration that commenced between our University and FAO in 2022.

The ongoing global and national events held under the theme of "Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind!" aim to create global awareness and drive worldwide change to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
