Douglas Woodring will be the guest of our University on World Water Day on March 22

Mr Douglas Woodring, one of the leading figures on plastic pollution in the ocean and the initiator of ground-breaking projects on environmental issues, will be the guest of our University to give a speech in the B27 Design Area at the OzU-X Building on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 15:00 to 16:30.

The event is open not only to students taking the ENG 101-102 courses which focus on “Sustainability”, “Social Entrepreneurship and Responsibility”, and “Business Ethics”, but to all of our students. Mr. Woodring’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A session during which our students will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk with Mr. Woodring.

Who is Douglas Woodring?

Mr Woodring is the Founder and Managing Director of Ocean Recovery Alliance, a non-profit organization that focuses on bringing innovative solutions, technology, collaborations and policy together to encourage positive improvements for the health of the ocean. He is also the founder of the Plasticity Forum with a unique business focus on the future of plastic sustainability, and how solutions, innovations, materials and opportunities can be scaled for a world with a reduced waste footprint. In 2009, He was recognized as a United Nations Environment (UNEP) Climate Hero for his efforts to raise awareness on the plastic footprint of human beings. Born in Northern California, Mr Woodring holds dual master’s degree from The Wharton School (MBA) and Johns Hopkins University where he studied Environmental Economics. Woodring has a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
