ÖZYEĞİN UNIVERSITY CONTINUES TO DRIVE INNOVATION AND BREAKING NEW GROUND:
 
MASTERS OF HOSPITALITY TO TALK ABOUT VEHBİ KOÇ and THE DIVAN HOTELS AT THE FIRST “HOSPITALITY PIONEERS IN TURKEY BIENNALE”.
 
Renowned for preparing its students with its innovative, entrepreneurial and value-adding education model, Özyeğin University continues to drive innovation and break new ground with Turkey’s first biennale on hospitality in Turkey.   The  “1st Hospitality Pioneers in Turkey Biennale 2016” will be held with the theme of  “Vehbi Koç and Divan Hotels”. A first in Turkey, the biennale is organized by the Hotel Management Department at the School of Applied Sciences at Özyeğin University. 
 
The “1st Hospitality Pioneers in Turkey Biennale 2016” will take place on November 25, 2016 to commemorate an esteemed entrepreneur and the pioneer of hospitality in Turkey, and share his experiences with future generations.   During the biennale, the masters of hospitality will share the success story of Vehbi Koç who built the Divan Hotel brand, and embark on a journey into the the 60-year growth history of the Divan Hotels. 
 
Renowned for being an entrepreneurial and innovative research university that has adopted sustainability as its vision, Özyeğin University will bring another first. The Hotel Management Department at the School of Applied Sciences at Özyeğin University launches Turkey’s very first “Hospitality Pioneers in Turkey” biennale series.  The “1st Hospitality Pioneers in Turkey Biennale 2016” will take place on Çekmeköy Campus of Özyeğin University on November 25, 2015. In addition to marking the very first biennale on hospitality in Turkey, the biennale is also paramount for bringing together the masters of hospitality to shed light on the history of the Turkish hospitality sector.
 
 
VEHBİ KOÇ AND THE DIVAN HOTELS
 
The “1st Hospitality Pioneers in Turkey Biennale 2016” program also includes a panel on Vehbi Koç. Participants will listen to the leadership adventure and success story of Vehbi Koç, a prominent Turkish businessman who built the Divan Hotel brand, from the firsthand accounts of hospitality professionals who witnessed to that period.  In observance of the Biennale, Özyeğin University will also host a special exhibition on its Çekmeköy Campus. The exhibition will feature 140 pieces that illustrate the foundation, history and development of the Divan Hotel. The exhibition will be open to visitors at Özyeğin University for two (2) years.
 
A JOURNEY INTO THE HISTORY OF THE HOTEL
 
The biennale, which will be held on Çekmeköy Campus of Özyeğin University, will feature prominent invited speakers including Mr. Richard P. Appelbaum, the CEO of the Divan Group, Mr. Orhan Başdoğan, who served as the General Manager at Divan Hotel for many years, and Mr. Arcan Bayraktaroğlu, the Hotel Manager at the Divan Istanbul.
