Özyeğin Üniversitesi
Orman Sk
Nişantepe Mahallesi, Çekmeköy, İstanbul 34794

The EU H2020 PLOTINA Project Team at Özyeğin University organizes a talk on "Gender Equality and Fatherhood”. The talk will take place in Room G15, in the second academic building (AB2) on Friday, April 7, 2017. The talk will be in Turkish.

Speaker: Hasan Deniz, AÇEV Education Programs Coordinator

Studies on gender equality have so far focused on educating women and questioning motherhood roles. Recently, these studies have begun to emphasize that educating men is as important as educating women, and men must assume equal responsibility, especially in childcare and children’s education. Mr. Hasan Deniz who served as a project manager for many years at the Mother and Child Education Foundation (AÇEV) and also holds extensive experience in education, will talk about the goals of AÇEV, its ongoing educational activities, and the “Fatherhood Training” program. The seminar will analyze fatherhood in light of gender identities and roles, and address the opportunities presented by fatherhood as part of the “parenthood” experience. Topics of discussion will also include the changes brought by the Fatherhood Training program, and observations made during the training process.

The talk is organized within the scope of the SEC 101 Education Program by the PLOTINA Project, which is undertaken by our University under the EU’s Horizon 2020 program. PLOTINA is concurrently run in 6 universities across Europe to promote gender balance and inclusion in research, innovation and training. The project aims to achieve structural transformation in these areas in the respective universities.
