Corporate Startup Summit Commences on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 with the Opening Address of Our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk

Corporate Startup is an international platform which is now also launched in Turkey with the same objectives under the know-how support of Mind the Bridge, an advisory firm, and Nesta, a global innovation foundation.

The European Union has recently been organizing “matching” and award events in collaboration with organizations such as Mind the Bridge and Nesta in order to promote and encourage the collaboration between big corporations and startups.

Among the speakers are our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk as well as Mr. İhsan Elgin, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Özyeğin University.

MORE THAN A FUND
Startups not only need investor funds but also permanent collaborations and customers. “Learning how to fish” is, hence, critical to the steps they will take towards their future growth.

To this end, the Corporate Startup Summit aims to bring together big corporations and banks with startups.

STARTUP FRIENDLY COMPANIES
The summit has two parts. In Part One, the top STARTUP FRIENDLY COMPANIES that received the highest number of votes in a survey conducted among the leading startups will be announced.   Startups rate the companies based on several criteria including their openness to cooperation, investment capabilities, willingness to offer mentorship support and consultancy, potential for doing business, and their incubator / accelerator program offerings.

During part one, participants will listen to the stories of big corporations that have admitted startups into their ecosystems, supported them with a variety of strategies, and drawn them into the business. Part One will draw to a close with an awards ceremony. The leaders of the top ten startup friendly businesses will receive their awards in recognition of their pioneering efforts.

STARTUP FRIENDLY LEADERS
In Part Two, the top ten influential leaders in the startup world who have individually supported startups will share their own experiences, and receive their TOP TEN INFLUENTIAL LEADERS IN THE STARTUP WORLD award in recognition of their individual contributions.
