Creating Hope Out Of Hopelessness Conference

“CREATING HOPE OUT OF HOPELESSNESS: LEGAL GUARDIANSHIP AND ASSISTED DECISION MAKING”

All of us need a little help when making a decision or trying to achieve our goals. However, the general culture shaped by the prejudice against people with disabilities that they are unable to make their own decisions ties their hands and minds under the disguise of legal guardianship.

The conference will open this culture and resulting law for a discussion with invited speakers Ms. Mediha Bozkır Yıldız, who has been living on her own for the past four years and fighting against legal guardianship to maintain her independence despite being 98-percent physically disabled, Mr. Fikret Bektaş, who has recently been taken under legal guardianship although he holds a bachelor’s degree and is able to work, and Psychological Counselor Fatma Zengin, a disability-rights activist.

The conference “Creating Hope Out Of Hopelessness: Legal Guardianship and Assisted Decision Making" will take place on December 10, 2019 from 14:00 to 15:30 in the seminar hall 486F in the AB3 building. 

The event is open to everyone interested and free of charge. Registration is not required.
