Sofie is a trained architect from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The School of Architecture in Copenhagen (2004). In 2009 she worked at the Danish State Railways (DSB) to improve passengers’ fear of crime at train stations, and later, in 2012, she analyzed socioeconomically vulnerable areas at the Copenhagen Municipality for targeting of urban renewal projects. This led to a research interest in urban space’s influence on fear of crime in public transport. She is now about to finish her industrial PhD at the Technical University of Denmark in collaboration with the Danish Transport Authority. The title of the PhD is ‘Passengers’ fear of crime at train stations: the influence of the built environment’. She uses typomorphology in her urban analysis and specializes in Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
